About Eloy Alfaro

In 1920, Don Eloy Alfaro started his wagon factory in Sarchí and on January 18, 1928, Don Juan Kümpeln sold him most of the machinery he had at La Hacienda La Eva. Don Eloy’s ingenuity allowed the installation of an efficient hydraulic power system that generates 12 horsepower, which is supplied by a nearby river called Trojas, which puts in motion all the heavy machinery required in the workshop.Since its foundation and up to date, the Eloy Alfaro Factory is characterized by its excellence in the iron forging work necessary for the manufacture of carts, especially for the shoeing of the wheels. It can be said that it is a complete factory, because here the axles are turned, the horns are turned and all the ironwork is done.

This is the only wagon factory in the country that has worked and continues to work with hydraulic energy.
